Baywood Home Care  is a woman-owned business that is 100% locally owned, administered, and managed.  It is not a franchise.  There are no “outside investors”.  The owner, Dorothy Muffett, is involved on a day-to-day basis in running the company.

• Dorothy founded the company in 2000, after leaving General Mills,  in order to do something more focused on people.  Dr. Muffett, a Ph.D. food scientist, had served as a Director and Vice President of R&D at General Mills.

• A Minnesota company.  Based in the Twin Cities, with additional offices in Mankato and Sherburn.

• 100% focused on private-pay care at home.  Helping older people live where they want to live is all we do. Many of our competitors have their attention divided by being also in other businesses, such as Medical Assistance, Medicare, finding housing for seniors, Assisted Living care, child care, or staffing.

• Dorothy, the owner,  is involved in the company’s operations on a day-to-day basis.

• Everyone that works here is totally dedicated to enabling people as they get older to live wherever they want to live–indefinitely.  This could be the home they have lived in for 50 years, a new independent living apartment, or an assisted living apartment where they want to stay instead of moving to a nursing home.
